Ragi soup recipe prepared explained with step by step pictures and a video. This finger millet or nachni soup is prepared using ragi flour, butter, green chilli, ginger, garlic, salt, pepper, curd and mixed vegetables. Ragi soup is a very tasty and healthy recipe.

Soups are very comforting and good for health. I have posted tasty tomato soup recipe and palak soup recipe on this website. I prepare ragi, palak and tomato soups quite often. My son loves them.

I have used beans, carrot, sweet corn and cauliflower in this soup recipe. However any other vegetables of your choice can be used. You can add fresh green peas as well.

Ragi soup recipe

Preparation time: 10 min
Cooking time: 20 min
Serves: 4

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 250ml)

  1. 1/4 cup ragi flour
  2. 1 cup finely chopped vegetables
  3. 1/2 onion finely chopped
  4. 1 tsp finely chopped green chillies
  5. 1 tsp finely chopped ginger
  6. 1 tsp finely chopped garlic
  7. 1 tsp butter
  8. 1/2 tsp black pepper (or as per your taste)
  9. 2 tsp salt (or as per your taste)

Instructions for making ragi soup:

  1. Take ragi flour in a bowl and add double the water.ragi flour for ragi soup or finger millet recipe

  3. Heat the butter in a deep frying pan.butter for ragi soup or finger millet recipe
  4. Add finely chopped green chilli, ginger and garlic. Fry them for a while.green chilli, ginger and garlic for ragi soup or finger millet recipe
  5. Followed by add mixed vegetables and start frying them under medium flame. I have added beans, carrot, sweet corn and cauliflower. Any other vegetables can be used.mixed vegetables for ragi soup or finger millet recipe
  6. Also add in chopped onion and continue frying until vegetables are half cooked.onion for ragi soup or finger millet recipe
  7. Add 1/2 cup of water and let the vegetables cook for a minute.vegetables for ragi soup or finger millet recipe
  8. Add a tsp of salt while cooking the vegetables.salt for ragi soup or finger millet recipe

  11. Add water as needed and adjust the consistency.water for ragi soup or finger millet recipe

  13. Wait until excess heat is reduced and add in 1/4 cup of whisked curd. You can replace the curd with 2 tsp of lemon juice.curd for ragi soup or finger millet recipe
