Thumbuli is a kind of gravy, which is used as an accompaniment with rice and it is served as first course in a multi course meal. Ginger thambuli is prepared using ginger, coconut and curd. Anybody can prepare this easy ginger thambuli or raita in 10 minutes and is very very tasty. So I would say this is a must try recipe and I am sure you will love it.

Shunti(ginger) tambuli recipe

Preparation time: 10 min
Cooking time: 5 min
Serves: 4

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 120ml)

  1. 2" fresh ginger piece
  2. 1 cup fresh grated coconut
  3. 1 cup beaten curd / yoghurt
  4. 1-2 cups water
  5. 1 red chili / Sun Dried Buttermilk Chili
  6. 1 tsp cooking oil
  7. 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
  8. Salt as per your taste.

Instructions for making Ginger(shunti) tambuli:

  1. Grind coconut and ginger into a smooth paste by adding little water.grinding ginger for ginger tambli
  2. Transfer the ground paste into a bowl. Add salt, water and curd. Temper it with oil, mustard seeds and chili. Serve it with hot rice. adding curd and tempering ginger tambli
